Is organic food all that it is cracked up to be nutritionally, or are we consumers parting with our cash under false pretenses? This debate will run and run and ultimately we will all make our own minds up.

There are those who swear by the health benefits of eating organic, while others dismiss this view as garbage. In fact, if you stop and think about it for a moment, naturally grown, organic foods are going to be good for us, fact. Scientific testing backs this up.

Farming organically is good for both our bodies and our planet, only sustainable sources are used so lessen the carbon footprint.

The question you need to ask yourself is this; would you rather add a few dollars to your grocery bill by buying organic, or pay a helluva lot more in the long run in the terms of damage to your body and your environment? Our planet is suffering, and to endure its stability for future generations we all have to do whatever we can.

In the past we have looked to the FDA for guidance and trusted their judgements, where organic farming is concerned, however, they seem to be dithering. We applauded them for banning some of the pesticides used in conventional farming, but then we found that other carcinogens were still being used. Then they approved the sale to the general public of over 40 kings of GM crops, so my faith in them has drastically declined.

So basically, if you choose to buy vegetables, fruit and dairy products that are not organic, you are exposing your body to various contaminants, and that is never a good idea.

Only buying organic foods of certain types will drop the level of contaminants you are exposed to and also cost you less. The humble strawberry is renowned as having one of the highest levels of pesticide present, so switching to organic here make a lot of sense.

I’m not going to keep banging on about this, as far as I’m concerned the facts speak for themselves; organic farming produces food that is much healthier.
